SOENG / Mu Soeng

Novo, com leve amarelado provocado pelo tempo. Em inglês. The Heart Sutra is a basic text in all schools of Zen Buddhism, and is chanted daily in the monasteries and Zen Centers of China, Korea, Japan, and the United States. Yet the central teaching of the Heart Sutra - the teaching of Emptiness (Sunyata) - remains elusive to all but a few practitioners and scholars of Buddhism. This commentary on the Heart Sutra offers the contemporary reader a very readable explanation of the teaching of Emptiness, and its parallels found in the experiments of quantum physics. The wisdom teaching of ancient Buddhism is thus explored through the convergence of science and mysticism. The practitioner of Zen and Mahayana Buddhism will find this commentary accessible and easy to integrate through the praxis of his or her meditation practice. The author, Mu Song, is the director of the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, in Barre, Massachusetts, and former abbot of Diamond Hill Zen Monastery in Cumberland, Rhode Island. He is the author of Thousand Peaks: Korean Zen - Traditions and Teachers, the first comprehensive history of Korean Zen in English. Mu Song was ordained as a monk in the tradition of Korean Zen.
